The roads crew has plowed 24 miles from the Crane Flat gate and is currently working east of Porcupine Flat Campground.
Snow depths range from three to five feet. The snow is refreezing overnight, which making progress more difficult. A winter weather advisory is in effect this weekend, so plows may be diverted to keeping other park roads clear.

The roads crew has plowed 17 miles easterly from the Crane Flat gate and is currently working west of Yosemite Creek. Within the 17 miles, avalanche hazard is still present at South Fork Tuolumne River.

News & Discussion At 11:23 pm on April 15, a large rockfall occurred from the slope above the John Muir Trail between Clark Point and the top of Nevada Fall, sending hundreds of boulders onto the trail. Road crews have plowed nine miles from Crane Flat and are currently working in six to seven feet of snow. The first avalanche zone they plowed through will remain an avalanche zone for some time.
Snowpack is average this year, although snowpack is just one of many factors influencing when the road opens.

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion Glacier Point Road is closed to the public at Chinquapin for spring plowing operations as of April 1. This includes all foot and bicycle traffic beyond the gate at Chinquapin.
Administrative traffic is not allowed beyond the Badger Pass turnoff until further notice. When the road opens for bicycle traffic it will be signed as open at Chinquapin.

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion On Tuesday 1/9 at 7AM, Badger Pass Road will open to the public for Wilderness use. Services will be limited to wilderness parking, wilderness permits and restrooms in the breezeway of the day lodge. No other service or facilities will be available. Badger Pass Ski Area (downhill and nordic rentals) will remain closed until snow amounts are sufficient for operation of these facilities.
