According to Aramark's Yosemite website, it's supposed to open sometime in June. And it will have a new name: Degnan's Kitchen.

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion QuoteNot quite The Geezer, but getting there
Don't know why the editor of that article put the word dangerous in quotes, as if it's not really dangerous. As the article itself notes, at certain times those falls can be fatal (which is why the NPS sometime declares the bridge closed). I'm with nwhkr - I'd prefer to walk and keep my footing than risk slipping while running.
It's also pretty bad

Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra The Yosemite Fall Parking is a bit of misnomer since it's not really that close to Yosemite Falls. They ought to rename it Leidig Meadow Parking since Leidig Meadow is the closest landmark to that parking lot, or maybe call it Camp 4 Day-Use Parking since it's across Northside Drive from Camp 4.

Wow! After fifty years of driving on the old configuration this is going to take some getting used to.
Yes.
The Park Service also needs to update their Yosemite Valley map on their website. It's still shows the old road configuration of Northside Drive:

Here's another Tioga Pass reference photo from about a week ago -- TP Resort at about 9500' on the east side of the pass:
In case that doesn't work, it's posted to their facebook page:

This forum is more for hard-core backpackers who go out into the wilderness for many days on end. You got some good advice above, I suggest you look to something like the TripAdvisor forum on Yosemite for more advice on front-country camping, general things to do, family activities, etc. They have a "top questions" section that usually provides most of the answers first

Tioga Pass will not be open for this holiday weekend, and there is still no estimated opening date. But plowing crews have rounded the corner near Ellery Lake, making good progress toward the Yosemite National Park entrance gate.

So... I have always wanted to go to Yosemite, see trees that have grown from the ground of their own volition. I am a native from Las Vegas and have camped around the general areas here and in very fancy campgrounds in Zion and beaches through southern California, but this will be my first real camping adventure in the great outdoors. I have a 3 night reservation for June and will

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion I wonder why her case isn't listed among the cold cases listed here? Other cold cases of that era are listed. Maybe her case has been finally solved (though not publicized that it has been solved).

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion This is what happens when Yosemite had relatively low visitation the past three years due to the drought and now a historic level of snow and snow melt. BOOM!!! Everyone who held off visiting Yosemite these past three years now want to see it at its rip-roaring best.
Not too surprised. The same thing occurred during the last big water year.

Looks like someone bumped the camera. For a second I thought the camera was accidentally placed where the tree landed lol
It sound like another tree (out of view) fell right next to the camera (iPhone).
Thank you JKW for recording the event. And thank you chick-on for uploading it on YouTube.

Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra I've camped at the next campsite over (#312). The location is mostly shady, but with filtered sunlight hitting the ground. One can see Half Dome through the trees. Your site is bit crowded on one side, but it has depth. The ground is mostly dirt with pine needles. No rocks of significance. Note: according to Recreation.gov the maximum vehicle size for Site #310 is 27' and you stated you'll

Uber can probably drop you off if you started outside the park. To get permitted to operate inside the park, ie. pick up clients inside the park, could be a nightmare for Uber. Just to take pro pictures for a wedding requires the selling of your first born.
Is ride sharing regulated by the NPS? One would think that being Uber or Lyft drivers would be a convenient way for Arama

No access to the pre-planning documents (that they've being developing this past year) ???
I would like to see the specifics of the alternatives they are considering before commenting. I contacted the planning department and these are the only documents available at this time.

QuoteplawrenceHas NPS ever PARTIALLY opened Tioga Road, lets say from Crane Flat to White Wolf?
Yes.
QuoteI don't recall them doing so for the past 20 years. I wonder if they might have done so earlier.
I do. Several times they opened to road to Yosemite Creek before the full opening.

I do know in the past (in the 1970s and 80s) they would open up Tioga Road from the east entrance to Tuolumne Meadows after Caltrans plowed the road. But they haven't done that recently either, II

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion For anyone that's interested, here's a link to the current cold cases in regards to missing persons and unsolved murders the occurred on NPS land. If anyone has any new leads or new information, there's a toll-free number one can call in to relay the new information.

Well, I did end up including my snowshoes in the box of hiking gear that I had shipped so nothing is necessarily off the table.
I think it will more than likely come down to a question of time. And, I know that in new locations, I tend to go pretty slow as I take a ton of pictures, etc.
Related to all this, it looks like we'll be stopping on the way in at (a minimum of ) Glacier

Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra Yes, that's why I rated Taft Point as a maybe, because of the snow (plus possible creek crossings (Sentinel Creek) with very high water).
But I think the hike to Sentinel Dome ought to still be doable for most people with proper footwear. I'm pretty confident any part of the trail still buried under snow would still be well-traveled and packed down (since Glacier Point Road would have been op

[5/16, Tue] Arriving at Yosemite / Glacier Point early morning. Explore Yosemite all day. Staying in Half Dome Village.
On Tuesday (5/16), this is what I would recommend. Go to Washburn Point and then Glacier Point early in the morning. Take a lot of photos. Then head back out on Glacier Point Road to the Sentinel Dome – Taft Point Trailhead parking lot. Do the short hike to
