Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion Quotehotrod4x5

Yes, but will the Park Service learn the lesson here and start trademark proceedings on all national park place names? Somehow I don't believe they have learned. They need to just make a law that a private entity cannot trademark something that is owned by the American people.Republicans would never go for it.

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion QuoteplawrenceMy assumption is that they purposely came up with ridiculous names so 1) they don't stick, and 2) the names generate more bad publicity towards DNC. Hopefully, the Majestic will revert back to the Ahwahnee and Half Dome Village goes back to being called Curry Village (though it would have been cute if they had renamed Curry Village to Dave & Jennie's Village). They should have

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion I know those tour buses. They spend at least 2 hours, often 4, driving to the Park only to stay in the Park for less than an hour, then another 2 to 4 hour drive back. Makes no sense to me, but they love it and keep coming.

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion This is not good news to everyone. Now many popular rock/mineral collecting sites are now off limits. Some of the new rules are amazingly stupid. One is that if you happen across a pretty rock then you can pick it up and keep it. If you are out looking for rocks to collect, you can't pick up any or take any with you.

General Discussion Quoterecycling1991I can't figure out how to quote parts of a message easily. Tried it, gave up. :-) That's easy. Just use "quote" and "/quote" but with .
QuoteThanks for the information on who makes the camping decisions.
It is interesting to me that the job of a superintendent does not involve lobbying for more money. I'll have to go educate myself on what a superin

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion Quoterecycling1991.....3. I guess I can understand Neubacher not caring. Who does? I actually looked for a Yosemite org chart online, but was unsuccessful. Who is in charge of camping? Is that information publicly available? I know it's not DNC, because you go through the park service directly. Another topic for another day, what does Neubacher care about? What should he care about? I guess I wou

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion Ah.... just got an idea..... The Yosemite Conservancy might be a solution to end this problem. After the current mess makes it through the courts the YC should jump in and copyright/trademark/whatever the names. Then charge the NPS $100 a year for the rights to use them. Sounds good to me.

General Discussion DNC has nothing to whine about, but they will anyway. They signed a contract that had an end date. They knew it was coming.

General Discussion QuoteeeekClother, mugs, etc. Which means nobody else can put Yosemite National Park on such things. Seems wrong to me.
From what I understand, such things are design specific. Others can use "yosemite national park" but not the same lettering, style, etc, that DNC copyrighted.

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion Quotey_p_wThis has got to be the most tone deaf thing I've seen a major company do in a long, long time. It's going to cost them more than the $51 million they were hoping to get from Aramark.
They don't care. DNC already has a bad reputation, but they don't care. They still make millions, billions?, in profit. THAT is all they care about.

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion QuoteKCMcClintock will fix this, right? Yosemite's in his district. Or, maybe he'll just push to privatize the park service, or the park outright, right? He's a useless Tea Bagger. He would sell the naming rights to all the features in the Park if he could. Just imagine on every map "Yosemite Falls by AT&T" and you'll see what kind of person he is. Some Republicans are trying to do

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion Quotettilley...Curry Village: Snark aside, I think this needs to remain Curry Village for historic reasons....For historic reasons it should be Camp Curry. That's what it was several decades back when I was there as a kid and that was the name when it was established in 1899.

Of course. Chefs usually get paid more than cooks.

General Discussion I've been to a couple of the Vintners Dinners. Those are great. They bring in outside chefs and pair their foods with some nice wines. The outside chefs sure beat the cooks they have there all the time.
