Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion I understand that there may be two different sets or places where there are cascades on the Tuolumne River on the trail to Glen Aulin.
Since I'm planning on a sunset shoot of them, I'd like to know in advance how far any walk back the the 120 with headlamps might be.
Thanks, as always.

Not sure what exactly you're asking for.
You can't really go wrong anywhere you go. It really is all that good.
Anything in the Sierra will be a worthwhile endeavor.
Literally thousands of trips you can dream up.
In the Sierra I never worry about water. The year we did JMT from
TM to Roads End a bunch of people were mentioning the lack of
water. We had no idea what they

The tent cabins go for $120 night.
Yeah, it's a bit much for what you get compared to a nice hotel room, but afte a full day of hiking/shooting from dawn, it's sooooooo nice to get back to a place with showers, etc.... in the middle of it all.

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion Sort of had a notion to check it out for a while now, since I've seen some shots up there that could be worked beautifully in the right light, but I've also heard the trail is one of the few that go full-on, straight up from the first step until final destination.
Not that I have a problem with that, but there's the issue hauling up camera gear, possibly camping, and someone I'm going with n

B. The last time we hiked it we used the TM Shuttle. The driver knew exactly what we were talking about (we called it the 'climbers trail') and dropped us off at the spot. We hiked out the regular trail. I'll never hike up the regular trail again.
Awesome! So that's two very certain votes for the Fisherman's Route.

Unicorn or Cockscomb?
That would be a really nice loop... up Budd... over to Upper and back down.
It's very simple xcountry. The saddle is very open with stellar views of Cathedral.
Echo #n (I forget, I think it's #3) is fairly simple scramble too if you want to do that.
Go for it
I would expect that there aren't any buggies yet at Memorial Day... but close.

Oh, sorry, I should have been more clear: this coming memorical weekend.
The cabins opened up and BAM! We pounced and got lucky.
That's why I asked how conditions are now, rather than later in the summer.

Sorry. Maybe I was a little too exuberant.
The hike up to Budd and Eliz can be rather mundane. There's lots of trees..
Some nice views of Cathedral from Budd Creek and you cross Budd Creek so
there's that stuff.. but a lot of woods hiking... especially for Elizabeth.

I tried everything I could to be in the Sierra on Sunday afternoon for the Solar Eclipse, but it's not going to happen. You were probably wise, or lucky to have missed it. Unfortunately the moonbow has somewhat gone the way of the firefall...something that used to be fun but is now a sea of photographers (looking very serious and protective of their territory that they stake out hours in advance) with massive tripods and pricey gear. Over the past 6-7 years I've watched it get more and more crowde

From pics and reports I've seen, friends of mine are estimating that, in Cooks Meadow alone there were well over 250 photographers, and likely over 1000 in the Valley at various spots that night.

I doubt I can capture a moonbow over at AT&T, but I probably can capture a shot of the full moon.

This is probably a very silly question, so I apologize in advance.
As I understand the information on the park's service website, the Toulumne Meadows backpackers' camp ground will open up in Early-Mid July. Is there anywhere to camp near Toulumne Meadows in Early-Mid June (around June 10th)?

I see several comments about putting the grill in the bear box. If you're concerned about someone stealing it from your

If you're thinking a bear might be attracted to it, that should not be a concern. I've never had any problem with a bear or
