I know, I was joking...sometimes that really is the best answer to the question. And even that doesn't ensure one won't be on the pass in conditions where it should be closed. They seem to be _pre-emptively_ closing the pass, judging by what I've seen here. I mentioned having crossed with solid snow cover (on the road) and white knuckles (on my steering wheel)...the most recent occas

Quotecalipidder*sigh*. So I suppose pouting and stomping my feet like a bratty 5 year old isn't gonna work...
Does it ever?
When I tried it last weekend I was offered helpful advice about checking for the open/closed sign at the 395/108 turnoff on my way back from Mammoth.
On the other hand, the pass did open for me on Monday, when I needed it.
That was me that put

It is a smooshed bug on the windshield.
I mean, yup, it sure does look like a UFO. Better contact the authorities.
And there is an Alien Landing Strip nearby.
Yeah...the Marine base.

I just looked out my office window and it was snowing so heavy I couldn't see across the road.Where????
He's at Tahoe.
It didn't stick on the road but covered the ground and the trees. Weather people are saying at least another week of this unsettled mode.

QuoteLouisI use an Epson Stylus Photo R320. I've had it for several years and I'm quite happy with the prints it turns out.
Have you had to replace the waste ink pads yet?
No. I didn't even know they existed but since you brought them up I'll probably have to soon.
The printer will just stop working when it decides you need to change the pads

QuoteLouisWhen I first began working for a color lab in Dallas the E-4 process was still used for Ektachrome. That was a few years back.
I remember processing E-4 at home. Had to hold it up to a bright light at one point in the process.
The first roll of Ektachrome I processed at home was shot on a Hasselblad 500C and I remember I used a photoflood for reversa

Alright, cough it up. Where was that taken?
Between Eagle Peak/Upper Brother and The Middle Brother.
(scramble down from Eagle Peak towards the Middle and you
should be able to find it)
Great shot. Made me want to hold on to keep from losing my balance.

QuoteLouisThat must be what followed you to Death Valley and became rain.
Sort of. Owens Valley was clear but the rain/snow was still up in the Sierra. Took this out the window from our room this morning:

Those clouds may not look like much but they're just like what we had at Tioga the day before.

Looks like Ebbetts and Monitor reopened, Sonora's still closed, according to the CalTrans site. It was nice of CalTrans to open Sonora Pass just so I could get to Mammoth to go skiing, before quickly closing it again. Hopefully they'll reopen it tomorrow late afternoon so I can get back across with a lot fewer miles.
It looks like they have had snow showers up

Good morning all. Does anyone know of any trouble from our " blood-sucking " friends in the valley or from any other parts of park? My trip will be in mid June and just curious how bad they will get. First timer for June trip. I always have visited in winter months. Thanks for any info you can relay this way. Have a Great Memorial Day weekend!

Not quite! At least today they marked it closed 3/4 mile short of the pass, at the USFS Tioga Lake overlook.
That's where it's been closed when I've gone up there in previous years. I parked the car and walked to the gate and back. I guess 3/4 of a mile is close enough for government work.
