Camp Curry "signature cabins"
July 26, 2012 01:47PM
Has anyone stayed in one of these? Is it warmer for mid October trip? It's described as being east of the apple orchard. Is this a long walk from the parking lot/dining? The lodge is booked up for the weekend my mom and I are going. Is there a special event going on the weekend of the 19th? Normally when we go at this time it is less crowded.

stayed in a signature tent in the middle of winter in the snow. I think there warmer than canvas only tents. Used a wool blanket to cover the door and one on the window to prevent heat from escaping and cold air from entering. They're made of canvas and not very air tight. Actually insulation is non existent.

One negative is that you have to walk to the bathrooms but we solved that by bringing our portable potty and again the wool blankets came in handy. We used them to make a make-shift privacy screen. But loved the fact that you can hear rain or snow falling onto the roof and we were able to literally build a snow-man at our front door!

We didn't have need for the blankets as we brought are winter sleeping bags.

Parking is near.

Thanks for the info. We ended up booking this "cabin" for that weekend. Good idea on the sleeping bags and so is covering the doors and windows. Does the cabin have a bear box right outside?

Curry Village

Each tent cabin at Curry Village has a locker; locker size depends on tent cabin size. If three or fewer people are staying in one tent cabin, the locker size is 20.5 inches deep by 35½ inches wide by 23 inches high (52 cm x 90 cm x 58 cm). If four or five are people staying in one tent cabin, the locker size is 20½ inches deep by 47½ inches wide by 23 inches high (52 cm x 120 cm x 58 cm). Be sure to keep your locker completely closed, even while you're in or around your tent cabin: a bear may try to get food from the locker even in your presence.
