QuoteRobE Bob Pease was a very well-known analog electronics expert who wrote a regular column in EDN magazine. They were always titled "What's All This XXXXX Stuff, Anyway?". The topic varied, and it was usually about electronics. I always found his columns entertaining. In fact, I read the mag mainly for those columns. I use the past tense, because, sadly, Mr. Pease passed aby Catalonian Burro - General Discussion
QuoteBee Lots of FUN! I love the frame-by-frame format. I am glad that you were able to get useful info from The Bird & his many archives of pix. Log crossings can be very tedious ( I heard that the Burro Boy loves them) Thank you for sharing your trip Bee is right- when I see the Goat smiling at me then I know I am in for another.... log crossing. QuoteBee I am with the bird on this one; Ohlone is great for locals, but coming from so far away, you want to use your time wisely. I strongly agree. I am on the peninsula. Try some of the Redwoods in the Sta Cruz mountains although they do not compare to what one can see up North towards Eureka. Peter's Grove is a nice and simple day hike. So, last night, I originally began to write my reply with some math breaking down the price per chicken... but I backed off cuz I did not know how many airplanes are part of the deal and I figured you guys would be all over me on that. I did find that the retail price of an F16 is around 45 million- I figure "discounts" must be factored in... So I can at least share that. I also founby Catalonian Burro - General Discussion

I second Calipidder's comments. I don't see the appeal- especially with the numbers of people going up there with the cables up. That said, I have a lot to see, explore and learn. Although Chick-On channels his thoughts onto the keyboard in many ways that makes it seem like Bill-e-g wrote it... (It's a mystery really, but, hey, how many literate birds do you know?) I can tell you that Chick-on is not Billi-e-g. Roland, Chick-on forgot to mention that this is a peekture of the aftermath after a 12+ hour snow storm. And the tent became a burro bungaloo- at the time. If I recall, and Billie-G can correct me, we decided to bring tent in case things got dicey and the tarp proved just fine. I may go slightly off topic- based on the article here- but it is about the commercialization... I have spoken to some who have traveled to Nepal (not Everest). They have shown me photos and explained how touristy the general area is getting- i.e. commercialized. I hate to imagine it, but, for me, Everest may seem like a place full of trash, bodies, and all else that humanity leave behind besby Catalonian Burro - General Discussion

In the winter both Mike and the Goat have taught/turned me on to down filled pants and booties. They are an investment though but extremely light, compressible, and toasty warm out in the boonies. A big difference from carrying snow pants. Quotemrcondron The slope is not really all that steep even in the worst spots. It's the slipperyness of the granite that is the big worry. When wet it's like its been oiled. QuoteUlysses61 The pizza is edible, though the crust tastes like cardboard. That's about the only thing they sell there. The place right next-door (but indoors), sells bar food and has some good Nachos, fries and speciality beers. There's also a place right outside the store in Curry Village that sells burritos and tacos. I would not recommend that food at all.
