I imagine they're the same as people who live in my neighborhood who tend to come home late, slam their car doors, yell at each other the entire distance between their car and their front door, and then slam that door as well. I had to call my parents and thank them for teaching my sister and me how to be aware of the other people around me and to put myself in their shoes. Exactly. Although I prefer the term "snarky." Actually, I'm a recovering "nice" person who is working on becoming less "nice" and more "kind." Kindness involves honesty to my own needs as well as the needs of others. In this case, I think the kind response was putting up the ropes and laying down the wood to delineate the path along the fence. But the nby itchbay - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. We just went up to the top of Pothole Dome, more to just see what we could see from there, having never been to TM before. We went down along the east side and found a use trail that pretty much takes you down to the river, and we sorta picked our way from there, depending on the conditions -- at that time it was to avoid the marshy meadow. Two weeks earlier would have been to avoid the slick domby itchbay - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
When we did the Pothole Dome to Little Devil's Postpile to the bridge last July 4th weekend, we met up with some folks who were coming back from having camped out near Waterwheel. We were a slow-moving, late-starting hiking party (made slower by the very wet conditions on the west side of the river) so we decided to turn back at the river and head back along the backpacker's trail, which was extrby itchbay - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. On that hike, none. I don't think there were mosquitoes on the North Dome Hike. Or maybe by that point I'd used so much 100% Deet for three days in a row that I was immune.by itchbay - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

I'm so jealous. We did the hike last year on July 4. It was warm and wonderful, no snow at all. We had a great time on top of North Dome looking down a the bazillion cars in the valley and feeling smug.by itchbay - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

We always talk about our trip to the Saddlebag Lake. We just drove up there and went into the little store there. Walking back to our car, we both had to stop and rest and catch our breath. We went along the west side of the river from Pothole Dome, and saw the Little Devil's Postpile, on the July 4th weekend last year. It was nice to get out off the truly beaten path and we hardly encountered anyone out there. I don't know what the conditions will be like when you're there, but we didn't have too much trouble finding a path. We did the Porcupine Creek to North Dome, by way of Indian Rock, last July 4, and it was wonderful. We were staying in TM, so we did is as an out and back, but met enough people going down the Yosemite Falls trail that we made a note to try it that way some day as well. OK, maybe the looking in the trees thing is my own pleasure, and I've never been the one to drive through Yosemite. The boy has always been kind enough to drive so I can look for bears (a running joke). But he goes slow enough that I can enjoy the views, without holding up the people behind us.
