If you won the lottery, go. Even when it is bad it is good. Two summers ago spent one of the opening weekends at Vogelsang (in August) along with billions of mosquitoes. Miserable time wearing nets and all. But still would not trade the hiking experience for anything.by Paris92 - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Ermine (with critter), Pine Martens, and Snoeshoe hares, oh my. Not to mention the coyote! Excellent!by Paris92 - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Has anyone ever camped at Sequoia or Kings Canyon? Same craziness to get campsites there also? I would like to camp in Yose at some point, but it seems near impossible to get the site reservations.by Paris92 - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

No one else up there? Why do you think that was the case? Awesome video. Need to show it to the folks I am hiking with. Not sure if they all know how much of a "knife edge" it is.by Paris92 - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

I expect it to be a very tough day, but doable. Is it tougher than say the 15 miler from Merced Lake to Happy Isles? I have done than in a day with a 25 pound pack. I assume my day pack for CR would be much less weight and I could travel faster,by Paris92 - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

Really, really enjoyed the report. Must have been a ton of work to post all of that - thanks for sharing! My uncle took me to Yosemite for the first time back in the '90s. Climbed HD with him also. I had imagined that someday we would have done a trip like yours, but so far that has not happened. Maybe someday. Thanks again.by Paris92 - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
It was sunny and warm on the north side last Sunday. With hardly any snow. The south side was much different. Curry was completely iced over on the ground.by Paris92 - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

I wonder how cold it is up there in June. And how bad the mosquitoes would be then. Never been up there that early.by Paris92 - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

We did the Mirror Lake/Tenaya Creek loop last Saturday. It was in snow and ice for about half of the trail. Use YakTrax or similar. The rock slide zone was otherworldly in the snow. I recommend that hike.by Paris92 - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

Looks like I will be staying up in Tuolumne Meadows during early September. Is a day hike to Cloud's Rest and back possible from one of the bus stops along Tioga Road (Sunrise Trailhead perhaps?) Seems like that might be a bit too ambitious?by Paris92 - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
