Hiked up Paintbrush Canyon in the Grand Tetons on 7/2. Quite a bit of snow above 9000 feet. Water was really gushing from the snow melt. At the Paintbrush Canyon trail head. First cascade of many on Paintbrush Canyon trail. Heading further up Paintbrush Canyon. Getting up to the snow Heading back down snow field crossings. More great views down the canyon More cby yosemitejim - General Discussion
I'll take all the blame. Awesome. Just got back from the Grand Tetons. I'll try to put some stuff in the general discussion.by yosemitejim - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
QuoteQITNL Cecile Lake is pretty nice. There's one cool campsite cleared in the talus east of the lake and more up on the ridge above. The short section of class 3 between Cecile & Minaret lakes is pretty easy. It shouldn't be a dealbreaker. I don't know if this is the exact route I took but it's no harder than the video posted here: http://pika.hopto.org/Minarets_2010/aug30.htmby yosemitejim - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. Chick-on in 3D so cool. The leaves make a great background. The spam is a nice touch. Wow, the water is way down. At least the cascade still had a little bit going on. Looks like just damp rock below there.by yosemitejim - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
I did think that you were comparing a more recent viewing. It was blasting pretty good in your previous video. Would be interested in seeing your picture from Sunday. Both spam and chick-on are good if not too much trouble. Thanksby yosemitejim - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
It was down quite a bit from when you posted a video. I knew it would fade pretty fast. Glad I got to see it with a fair amount of water.by yosemitejim - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

I had seen pictures of Tenaya Creek curving out of the granite bowl in the past, but didn't know where it was. Recent posts by Basilbop and Chick-on, cleared up the mystery. Went there 2 weeks ago. Pretty easy to find by following Tenaya Creek off of the Sunrise trail. Here is the granite bowl with lens flare and withoutby yosemitejim - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

No mosquitoes at all here. The wind may have blown them away. Mosquitoes weren't too bad 2 weeks ago. They were worst at the Sunrise trail head. They were viciously attacking and it was difficult to keep them out of the car. They disappeared from Sunrise trail head a few days later, for some reason. They were also starting to get bad at Lower Cathedral Lake, but a strong breeze seemed to clby yosemitejim - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

My original thinking was that there are numerous bridges on stream crossings. I suppose that most of those eliminate dangerous crossings that could lead to injury or death. The Tenaya outlet is relatively tame, and I don't think that anyone will ever be injured there.by yosemitejim - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

I was up at Gaylor Lakes on 6/8. It was a bit windy, but not too bad. It was cool enough to keep polar fleece zipped up and wear gloves in the afternoon. It was kind of cool how the wind blew the trees and water around.by yosemitejim - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

All good questions. There is often a lot of confusion on naming meadows and where one begins and ends. There also seem to be a lot of un-named meadows. I had always thought it is called Sunrise Meadows around the HSC. The names tend to get mixed up between Sunrise Lakes, HSC and Meadows. I've also seen it referred to as the meadow near Sunrise HSC. I guess it is technically part of Long Meaby yosemitejim - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
