considered Denali myself this year, but didn't fancy the 'plan-a-trip-when-you-get-here' so decided on Yosemite, as in two years time my knackered knees would be just too knackered for anything ambitious ( glen aulin/ snow lake/ smedberg/ glen aulin). but must admit, there aren't many worse things than getting sick on your hols. but as the saying goes, it never rains but it pours... now wouldn'tby pines - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. on that last point- its a good one. I've been planning and waiting only two years for a trip that covers end of aug- sept. as a trail hiker I don't spend anything on hotels in the vicinity, but I've still got $800 begging to be let loose on kahtmandu curry, mac'n'cheese, apples, eggs, gas, postcards, maps, one-way glacier point tour, grapes, garden burgers, farm-to-feet woollen socks that I willby pines - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. to whom it may concern: how strict are regs regarding use of b/p site in Yosemite valley. frinstance, IF I turned up on the 24th aug, but my wilderness permit was for the 26th aug, is it probable that I would get rounded up if I used the b/p site for 2 nights instead of the regulation I night ( prior to permit date). that is presuming if all main sites are full (as they currently are). any thoughby pines - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra

I WONDER HOW MANY MORE 'CONCEPTS' BRIAN COULD FACILITATE. HOW ABOUT FACILITATING A HOT ( OR EVEN WARM) SHOWER OR WASH ON A COLD MORNING? THE PARK SHOULDN'T WANT TOO MUCH MONEY FOR THEIR CONCRETE BUNKERS. I've never understood the difference between Parks and Foresst for one ~ especially when it comes to permits (UK resident). As far as grouse are concerned, they don't seem to be phased by anything much. I passed one near Ediza and asked it if it had any spare whisky, at which it gave me a puzzled look. one near coney crags did a broken wing act, which made me jump suddenly, as, until she moved, was perfectly camouflaged. the cheekiest one though was down the Tm river from glen aulin. despite me shouting wolf! wolf! shby pines - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra

I suppose it all depends on one's perception. two years ago I ascended HD, specifically to take B/W photos of all the soldiers I had seen on a previous visit. If the topic of dead Yosemite bears wasn't so tragic it would be boring. year after year after year its the same story. what's the point of responsible visitors not feeding bears if there are more deaths among road bears than rogue bears? what's the solution? well, why not begin crudely, introducing low (20 mph) limits in the Valley; introduce speed humps and perhaps a rumble strip or two. as aby pines - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada.
