I really don't understand part of this. In that article it mentions improvements that DNC paid for that Aramark should have to purchase.
This is either spelled out in the contracts, or it is not. DNC claims it is part of the contract. Is it? Or isn't it?
The name controversy aside, WTF is going on? Does Aramark have to pay fair market value for th

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion For photography you should definitely get the book by Michael Frye sold in all the gift shops in the park if you don't have time to order before your trip. Amazon link: Photographing Yosemite
EDIT: I am surprised to see all the negative reviews, but seems they are mostly about the binding of the book. I have at least two copies of this book and mine never fell apart. For the first time photo

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion Correct me if I am wrong, but you can manipulate the system by reserving 7 days with your first day being the last day available, is that correct? That would remove a whole score of dates immediately before the window even opens.

In 2015, there were 4,097,710 “visits” to Yellowstone National Park, up 16.6% from 2014, making it the highest visitation year on record. The number of “visits” is always greater than the actual number of individuals who came to the park because people may enter and leave the park repeatedly during a stay in the area.
42.5% of the total visitation came into Yellowstone thr

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion Yosemite gets over 4 million visitors a year. There are countless books written. There are hundreds, or perhaps thousands, of people who have made online blogs, special maps and hiking guides. Thousands, or perhaps millions, of photos can be found online of Yosemite. There are many active forums.
Is Yosemite the most popular national park in the world?

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion If the fall is flowing and the sky to the west is clear all the way to the coast, then it should already be lighting up at sunset. The light changes as the month progresses, some prefer the way it looks earlier, some prefer how it looks later. I got this shot on Feb 11 two years ago.

Edit: It took longer than expected to send me a confirmation email. All is good now.

We were on the water April 4 in 2015:
Those are down jackets, not PFDs. The water + air temperature was probably 70-ish degrees. It snowed two days later.
The season ended in late October:
(There was a claim of a late-season Mirror Lake float, but... Mirror Lake was frozen solid, so no floating took place there, and what floating did happen was on a body of water

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion Any predictions, based on previous years, as to when rafting might open? When does it usually open in high snow pack years? Any historical data out there? I am looking at taking the family at the end of June, either last or second to last week. But would like rafting to be open.

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion Everyone has covered it, but I will confirm a bear canister is not needed for the type of visitation you describe. I have been going to the park for over 20 years and only one time did I rent a canister, when I went backpacking in the high country. I always bring a cooler stuffed with food and several bags of food and have never had a problem. If you are staying over night, you will be provided
