I just watched "Valley Uprising" on Netflix. It was a very informative and well made documentary about the rise of rock climbing in the valley. There is also a very interesting part which documents how a plane filled with high grade Colombian marijuana that was recovered by climbers who subsequently got rich selling it. I highly recommend checking it out.

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion For Bryce it's not necessary to stay in the park. You drive to each scenic spot anyway.
Zion must do hikes: Angel's Landing, The Narrows, Canyon Overlook, Emerald Pools and Weeping Wall.
I've spent several months living in Springdale just outside Zion, so I could go on and on, but those are the best for a short trip.

BTW it doesn't go to Clarke Point, it meets up with JMT just beyond the JMT/Mist trail junction, well short of Clarke Point.
Yes, that's right. I couldn't remember for sure. Thanks!

General Discussion Took this trail on the way down once. I really enjoyed it compared to the concrete jungle of the normal way down to the Valley. What has become of this trail since the horsie rides have been discontinued? Is it being maintained? Is it still signed, horses only?

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion I had a 31 ft. 5th wheel for a time and I would always be able to fit into sites that said 30+ motorhome and something like 24 ft. trailer max. You have to look at the descriptions, most of the pads allow quite a bit of overhang off the back end. I would just park my truck sideways in front of the trailer.
It's been a few years, but if I recall correctly this is site 65 in UP:

Yes, but will the Park Service learn the lesson here and start trademark proceedings on all national park place names? Somehow I don't believe they have learned. They need to just make a law that a private entity cannot trademark something that is owned by the American people.
I still don't know how the USPTO allowed historic names in parks to be trademar

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion Thanks for sharing, a very interesting document to read. And it seems to make sense. DNC is no longer doing business in Yosemite, therefore it will be abandoning the usage of the trademarks.
Seems like an open and shut case. We shall see...

I really don't understand part of this. In that article it mentions improvements that DNC paid for that Aramark should have to purchase.
This is either spelled out in the contracts, or it is not. DNC claims it is part of the contract. Is it? Or isn't it?
