y_p_w, I think there is definitely cooking allowed in Housekeeping Camp. I've seen both propane and charcoal BBQ grills being used there, along with portable camp stoves. And there are the same fire rings as the campgrounds have, with built-in fold-away grills as well. I think Housekeeping is essentially the same as a campground site, except they're furnishing you with the shelter and beds!by PineCone - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

For years they carried "Old Durham" brand Almond wood in that cardboard box, I think the box size was either 1 or 1.2 cu. feet (?) stated on the side of the box. You cannot put a lock on communal boxes (meant to be shared by multiple individuals or groups) at trailheads or similar, and the boxes in the Curry apple orchard parking lot as well (those near the Campground office that are so marked on the outside: "no locks" ) You are allowed to put a padlock on the bear box in your individual campsite in Upper, Lower & North Pines campgroundby PineCone - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. If you're referring to the Nob Hill shower house (the farthest one back in), yes, that is closed permanently, and will eventually be removed according to the NPS. There is still the shower house next to the pool, and they also built a new (albeit smaller) shower house that is off to the left of the top left corner of the apple orchard parking lot (when you're facing towards the tent cabins).by PineCone - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. Sure, hard-sided deluxe trailers you tow behind your truck, but tent trailers are those jobs on two wheels where you fold open the wings, and pop up the tent stored down inside. Can't recall seeing a really long version of one of those!by PineCone - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
That just happens to be one of my 'regular' sites, as I've stayed in at least 6 different times over the past 15 years or so. It's pretty open behind the parking pad, and while I don't have a photo of the pad, I can't think of any trees near it as an encumbrance to a long trailer. The NPS site shows a max tent trailer length of 12 ft., and an RV length of up to 24 ft.: http://www.nps.gov/yby PineCone - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

Congress gave them the money after the flood to restore the damage to Upper & Lower River campgrounds, and the back half of Lower Pines. Decisions were made in the NPS hierarchy that it would be a good time to yank those campgrounds out without any public input, which they never would have had the opportunity to do so easily otherwise.
