Cool to see Ediza from that angle. Has anyone been up Volcanic Ridge from there. I've heard that you head south south east from Ediza. Haven't seen an actual route. Guessing there are a few ways up.by yosemitejim - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
Welcome back to Yosemite Jason. I was up there last summer but didn't go all the way out, because of a fast approaching thunder storm. Definitely saw a few clouds though. Here is what it looked like last summer with some clouds.by yosemitejim - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
Very cool. Thanks for posting.by yosemitejim - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Thanks for posting the report. Glad you were able to see some great stuff between the thunderstorms.by yosemitejim - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
I was in 20 Lakes Basin on Sunday. Thought about going up to Secret Pass, but thunder up that way didn't make it too inviting. It stayed fairly clear above the basin, with thunder storms to the North, South and West. Thunder storms started pushing away from Secret Pass, but then North Peak disappeared and more clouds came in. It stayed clearer to the east, so I headed to upper Lundy Canyon.by yosemitejim - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
Thanks. Super helpful as always. Seems like most of the time Google Earth is steeper than it looks. Once in a while it is easier than it looks.by yosemitejim - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
Might try from the bridge someday. Is it mostly following Maclure Creek? Route would be awesome if you got it.by yosemitejim - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
Great stuff. Is #14 Maclure Lake? Any info on how to get over there? Looks pretty steep on Google Earth.by yosemitejim - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra

Went to Sawtooth Mountains in Idaho via Salt Lake City. Hiked up Bell Canyon near Salt Lake City. Trekking poles were useful on the steep trail. Here are the lower falls: This video zooms in on the lower falls from below: In Idaho we hiked up near Sawtooth Lake. There was lots of snow near the lake. Awesome. I really want to see Fletcher Creek go past Babcock Dome. Great to see a video of it. Hutchings Creek is also pretty impressive. This is my favorite time of year, watching all the snowmelt in the high country.by yosemitejim - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
Just came back from Yosemite. Checked out Half Dome from above Tenaya Lake before it got dark. Went to the Lake of the Domes on Medicott the next day. Went up that lake's outlet for something different. It is not the fastest or easiest way, but was pretty fun. There was one steep section up the granite that you can see when the video pans down. That was a fairly short, challenging sectiby yosemitejim - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
