Hi Eeek Is the TM STORE open? it’s the TM grill open? I drove by yesterday at 2:00 and grill had “closed” sign Backpacking from Mammoth to TM Tomorrow and planned on 3 meals for 10 hungry hikers on 8/12 & 8/13? Markskor, I drove past the grill today at 2:00 and there was a closed sign on door. Are the grill and store open? I’m backpacking with 10 people from Mammoth and plan to eat 3 meals there 8/12 & 8/13. Thanksby Coolburn - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
The low for July 2 was actually predicted to be 47F. That's not bad at all.by Coolburn - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
You should check that forecast closely. For some reason the low is stated in C degrees, not Fahrenheit. 24 C is a heck of a lot warmer than 24F!by Coolburn - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
I was already impressed with the rigor of your hiking, and THEN I saw you are 80! Now I'm super impressed and pray I will be able to do 1/2 of that in 23 more years! Great Job!by Coolburn - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

I read it to mean the river is open from either clarks bridge or stonemans bridge to sentinel beach, but not below sentinel beach. The issue will be the shallow spots where there is not enough h2o to float your boat.by Coolburn - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Clark's Bridge to Stoneman Bridge (Class I-II: Easy to Novice) The Merced River from Clark's Bridge (between North Pines and Lower Pines Campgrounds) to Stoneman Bridge is open each day that the gage height at Pohono Bridge is below 4.5 feet at 8 am. The NPS does not regulate floating when the river is too low, only too high. I think you can simplify this by thinking about the entrance gate and the campground parking separately. Tell the gate you have 3 cars arriving during the reservation, one of which is not on the first day. Make sure all three have DL & reservation print out. We had a similar situation on Lodging last summer, and the gate was fine. You might have an issue with the third vehicle parking aby Coolburn - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra

DNS and then Aramark used to run a hikers shuttle in the morning from the valley to Tuolumne, for a fee. No Shuttles makes it even worse. For example, we are hiking from Tuolumne to valley, and no shuttle means we have to drive to cars. If the Hikers shuttle was running, we would bring 1 car!by Coolburn - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

My point is that Aramark too easily stops services rather that provide the maintenance and employees necessary to continue. It started with the Tuolumne shuttles, when Aramark did not maintain the shuttles and hire enough drivers, so they discontinued the service. Of course they neglected to update their website, so who know how many backpackers were stranded? Then they failed to maintain enby Coolburn - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
QuoteNot quite The Geezer, but getting there While I have been unimpressed with Aramark in the 5 years its has been operating the concessions, it's still in this to make a profit. It makes its money by renting rooms and platform tents and by selling food and merchandise.
