QuoteKevinD Alternative? Join us at Panther Gap in Sequoia! We might go for Dewey at the end of the month too if conditions allow for it Hoping to be in Yosemite on the weekend of 24th at Sentinel Dome, conditions permitting. I have a group campsite at Wildcat in Point Reyes for the full moon night at the end of the month. QuoteBearproof So, based on the recent snowfall, it appears that the road is open to the ski area and parking will be allowed there. That's great to know, thanks for the info. I just spoke to the ranger yesterday and until then, the official word was that the road is closed and one can't even park there. To be precise, I was checking with the ranger about the current overnight options from thby nwhkr - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra

Wow, that's a lot of snow. Yeah, I don't expect any snow at the junction where we camped unless there is 1'-2' of new snow. Nice clicks, thanks for sharing. QuoteVengeanceASX So we're planning on climbing Cloud's Rest in about 3 weeks. Any news or input on this hike from the valley? I know there is a lot of weather happening between now and then, but is the mist trail a possibility? Party of 4 with 2 being very proficient in winter climbing/hiking and the other 2 having minimal experience. QuoteKevinD Should I bring crampons and ice axe since there's more snow now?? I want to do the "normal" route from the valley but if its sketchy, I may just do the forsythe (however you spell it) and go the longer back way. In our case, the daytime high was in low 50s. Quoteplawrence I presume if the Aramark facilities are open so are the restrooms located in these facilities (Half Dome Village, the Majestic Hotel, the Yosemite Valley Lodge). QuoteAlex L Hello and Happy New Year to all. I was planning to do a late Jan/ early Feb hike up the Snow Creek trail towards the cabin and Mt. Watkins. Apparently the lack of snow has lead to the cabin and Badger Pass not opening this year so I am looking for a good Plan B for my restless feet. You might want to try checking with the manufacturer/brand again for warranty as a different CSR might have a different response. Arcteryx replaced a zipper on my fleece and this is also standard for some other brands, I just paid for one side shipping. Rainy Pass (based out of Seattle) does an excellent job and if I was in your shoes, I will double check with the manufacturer again.by nwhkr - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
