There's a regular valley shuttle bus that you can take from the east end of the valley to El Capitan Bridge. Yosemite Valley Shuttle System From there you could walk across the bridge and west towards Bridalveil. I'd suggest walking parallel to the road a short distance into the forest on the opposite side than the river, i.e. on the side of Cathedral rocks. If it's misty enough you're not going to have a chance, there's going to be droplets on the lens, all you can do is try to reduce them. Pull the camera out and do the initial setup with it with it in front of you with your back to the blowing mist, i.e. your back is getting wet from the mist, not the camera. Wait for a lull in the wind/mist and quickly turn around, compose the shot, <*SNAP*&by qumqats - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

All the times I've driven by the last few years, a gate has been closed and locked so you can't drive up there anymore. Plus there was bunch of construction going on in the area. Is V7 (Formerly V9) now a paved parking lot? If so then you could just park there and walk on up.by qumqats - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
In a GOOD water year many of these shots under Nevada Fall would be impossible because there would be so much mist in the air. You're getting soaking wet standing there waiting for a lull in the wind and mist, camera in hand with the lens protected, the perfect moment comes, you flash the camera up, compose the shot, SNAP, hide the camera again while you walk away to where you can look at whatby qumqats - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. Has anyone been down there and seen how burned up the area is? I'm hoping not very, it was a nice spot. It was rather shocking driving in on 120 a few weeks ago. Burnt on one side or the other, or BOTH. I've see snow falling in the valley in June, I've also seen almost 100degF days in Jun. Averages are HERE and HERE I wouldn't expect to need anything special, it doesn't get very cold usually, but just in case bring an extra blanket if it's cold , and a bag that you can unzip if it's warm, and someway to keep dry in case it rains. You cross the bridge above Silver Apron and Emerald Pool and the trail works bit by bit to the the right and up hill for a while. You get to a point where the trail is pretty flat and straight for a while and is going almost directly south. ( This also happens to be where the Snow Hotel used to be a LONG time ago ) When the trail does a 90deg turn to the left you need to NOT turn left and go sby qumqats - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. The gate is right AFTER the trailhead to the Grove, so you shouldn't have any trouble with that. I drove thru Crane Flat last week and saw the most snow of the trip around there, but that makes sense since that's the highest spot. It was patchy and not very thick and most of it might have melted off by now. However the trail down the the Grove is north facing under trees, and would have the moby qumqats - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
It's worth mentioning that the bear boxes at LYV are the oldest ones around, and are very small compared to the ones in the valley. I'd guess they're around 12"h x 14"d x 32"w. They had to be packed up there on the backs of poor horses or mules! If you're staying in LYV for multiple days, and doing day hikes to various places, there's no reason to do anything with your camp/paby qumqats - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra

There's a Cell tower on Sentinel Dome on the Glacier Point side. There's a trail that goes right by it. I THINK there's one on Turtleback Dome just outside the valley. That dome is above you on the right as you're driving into the valley on 41 and you come around a corner and get your first AHHA! view of Half Dome. Camp 4 has and edge and diversity in large part because of the climbers. The snow level was way high for this system of storms. Foresta and Yosemite West aren't terribly far apart. ( 25 - 35 minute drive? ) If you're never going to the Valley, YW might have a slight advantage, otherwise just pick the best price/nicest rental.
