Tioga Road in Yosemite National Park to Close this Evening, January 17, 2012 The Tioga Road in Yosemite National Park will close at 7:00 p.m. this evening, Tuesday, January 17, 2012. QuoteLBFam QuoteparkloverWhat site number did you get? Site 216 Thanks for all the info. Looking forward to this summer. We never stayed in 216 but further down by 232 and 234. Did a lot of pond and lake skating back East when I was growing up so I made sure that before we went on Tenaya Lake that the ice was thick enough. However, I am sure that most of the people that were on the lake did not think about if it was safe or not and went on because they saw other people on it.by parklover - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. Looks like the snow is coming to Yosemite at the end of the week. I have talked to people that have lived there since the 60's and they said that when they have not gotten snow by January then it makes up for it in Feb and March. Good thing that we went to Tenaya Lake when we were there in Dec because it will probably be snowed in when we go in Feb.by parklover - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
QuoteLBFam I was lucky enough to get a site right at 7am for early June. The site I got said it was "rv only" with no option of choosing tent in the equipment drop down. I am hoping there are no issues with using a tent in that site. It is in the last loop of Upper Pines. We'll only have a small 3 man tent, so hopefully there will be space to pitch it. Looking forward to this trip.by parklover - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

Quoteplawrence Quotehotrod4x5 The best pizza in the park is NOT in Curry Village. But since the Loft is closed except to employees in winter, you have no other choice. They serve personal-sized pizzas at the Yosemite Food Court. Quoterobinjayp Ventured out on Tioga to Tenaya lake. Walked across in Yak Traks. We ran into many people who came up from Mammoth because the conditions there weren't great. Saw lots of ice skaters, some pulling dogs on sleds others pulling kids. A few people playing hockey. Rangers posted lots of signs warning people not to go on the ice. That's for all the info everyone. Qumqats - you are so right, I am sure this was he was thinking. Dave, I am curious about where are you finding these "sections" that you have been quoting. The CA Drivers Handbook is not in that sort of format. My son will be taking his driving test in a few months and I want to make sure that there is not some other source for regulations. I downloaded the CA DMV driver booklet and no where did I see it state that, although pedestrians have the right of way in cross walks, you had to wait until a pedestrian fully crossed the intersection before proceeding to drive through that intersection. But that does not mean that you can drive between separate groups of people crossing the intersection, like I have seen people do.by parklover - General Discussion

QuoteHitech My daughter has that in her room as a "night light". She really likes it (she is 7). It looks like it makes a good nightlight. These pictures are making the back of my legs twitch. I have a hard time standing on a tall ladder. The last time we were at Taft Pt, I crawled to the edge on my stomach to look over. Quoteplawrence There's a lot of things they could do but won't because it'll hurt DNC and the charter bus companies financially, and heaven forbid for that to ever come to pass. I don't think that they mean the entire park and it would probably be only during the busy season. I feel that some of the increase in traffic in the valley is not due to just increased visitation but also it has been added to by the removal of parking spots in the valley. They have decreased parking along the roads in the valley and there are plans to do the same along Tioga Rd. Right now theby parklover - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

But to impose auto quotas under the guise of a river plan is just a scheme to do so while flying under the political radar. Why pollute a proper river plan with a very controversial side issue?
