2 years ago Oct. we were in Lower PInes site #89 adjacent to the split rail fence that separated us from the 'renewing' vegetation along the meadow/road. It was dusk, the campfire was going, and I was about to start cooking some lamb chops over the grill. We heard a noise to our right and looked up to see two characters from Ghost Busters approaching. OK, not quite as bad as that, but it was tby calberry - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
We were on our inaugural camping trip in our new 5th wheel 3 years ago next month in Camp 14...oops, I mean Lower Pines. Sorry, I revert to my youth at times...that was when the Fire Fall meant bed time Anyway, the night before leaving I took out the cardboard box with the brand new plastic sewer hose in it and set it on the bear box (which did NOT contain any food) as a reminder for me to aby calberry - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. Wow, fun stuff. You must have been quite excited while taking those pics Steveby calberry - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
This was 'implied' above, but once you have a site, whether by previous reservation or by snagging one in the 1st come 1st serve line (FCFS), you then have 2nd priority to stay longer if you wish (1st priority being those that have reservations for that date). I have been in the FCFS line after going around looking for sites where the people are to be leaving that day (so I would know which siteby calberry - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. I totally agree with the recommendation to keep checking as many times as possible every day. Over the years I have never failed to find what I want, where I want it, and when I want it. Many people have to cancel at the last minute, or tour companies book blocks of rooms that get turned back in if not needed. Lodging Reservations Good luck...its worth the effort Steveby calberry - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Quoteitchbay Next year, for our 10th, we're talking about Yellowstone. I'm so excited I'm already planning that trip as well. I know what you mean about planning for new places. We are doing a 2-3 week Red Rock loop (Zion, Bryce, Arches, Grand Canyon and Vermillion Cliffs) next month, and I have been planning that since GC campgrounds first came on-line for May. Quoteitchbay But, even so, having never ever ever been to Sequoia or Kings Canyon, I'm sure it's worth a trip eventually. And I've already got a commitment from my other half that we'll go camping at least twice this year, so I'm willing to spend one of those times someplace new. All my life (I'm almost 66) I have been going to Yosemite. Camped in old camp 14 as a kid, worked at the TML forby calberry - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

Quoteitchbay Our first choice if Toulumne Meadows, but that doesn't look possible, considering the campground isn't slated to open until July 12. Just curious as to where you got the date of July 12th? It has only opened that late in 2 of the past 11 years (2002, 2011), and with this winter I would think the snow depth wouldn't be enough to keep it from opening mid-late June. We've camped in the Valley at this time of the year for the past 4 years. The attached picture of our campsite was taken on 3/31/2010. We went to bed with raindrops 'falling on our heads', and woke up to the 'silence' of snow and a winter wonderland. Fortunately we weren't leaving until the next day, because although my truck has 4 wheel drive I do not have chains for the trailer. We areby calberry - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada.
