Do you know if the Tuolumne Meadows Lodge will be impacted by this decision?by calberry - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
I worked at the Tuolumne Meadows Lodge during the summers of '64 and '65 (18 and 19 years old). My wife and I spent part of our honeymoon ('69) at TML, and we had reservations to go back last summer but had to cancel since it never opened. Now we have reservations for June 28th (our 54 anniversary). Since it looks like it won't be open by then (if it opens at all) we have made contingency planby calberry - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
I had reservations for TML this summer and just got this email: Dear Guest, Our entire team at Yosemite Hospitality has been working tirelessly on operating plans for the summer season; however, we continue to struggle with unprecedented hospitality industry staffing challenges. We have 3 nights in a bunk bed room reserved at the Lodge for next month (made the reservations last week). The 'rack' price was $278, but $314 after taxes and fees. We stayed there 3 years ago and the rate total cost per night was $289 with $36 of that being taxes and fees. So a $25 increase over 3 years...not really that bad (the increase, not the totals).by calberry - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

So does that mean the Park is now completely w/out power? That seems like a major interruption in services (i.e. lodging and food) that should have gotten a lot more press than it has...or at least an 'Alert' on the NPS site. I did some Googling, and this is basically the only article on it I saw: https://sierranewsonline.com/alert-power-outage-in-yosemite-valley-to-last-into-next-week/by calberry - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. I tried calling this morning and the wait time was 41 minutes, so I waited a while and called back. This time it was 53 minutes. So I waited another hour and it was 68 minutes. And this was to the menu option of 'Modify a current reservation'. I just went ahead and filled out the on-line form to modify a reservation. I was pleasantly surprised today that I was able to make reservations at the Lodge for July. We have a week when the grand-kids are going to be visiting (1st time seeing them since Covid), and any two days in that week would have worked fine. Over the period of approx. 6 hours I refreshed the reservation link on my laptop browser and/or smartphone about every 10-15 minutes. I saw some activityby calberry - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. Yes, that was very entertaining and educational. In all my years of going to Yosemite I don't think I have ever heard about Galen Clark dynamiting a moraine (1878) for mosquito control. And it was very interesting to learn about the pine bark beetles and and especially the relationship to droughts and global warming. Thanks again, Steveby calberry - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. Tom, I'm sorry but I cannot remember where/when/how I signed up for the campground notification emails. Yup, I got the email update, bummer: May 14, 2020 Hello campers, Due to the uncertainty surrounding COVID-19, Yosemite will not be releasing any camping reservations on May 15. This on-sale date would normally open up arrivals between September 15 and October 14. Additional emails will be sent as conditions change. Below are photos I took leaving YNP on Apr. 2018 and Apr. 2019 of the slide on Hwy 140. It appears nothing has been done over the course of the year. Does anyone know the status of the project? When looking at pad lengths, be mindful that they are measured from the front to the back 'bumper'. Typically one backs in so the tires hit the bumper. That means you have 'over hang' since the back of the trailer will be beyond the bumper (perfectly legal as long as the trailer tires on on the asphalt of the pad). So you have to consider that extra length as well...effectively making the padsby calberry - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
From the YNP Facebook page: 😞 Yosemite's High Sierra Camps will not open this year due to above-average snowpack, lack of access to water for bathrooms and kitchens, and other infrastructure challenges. Since I had not heard back from anyone I called the campground office just now, and got a real person again. The first person was very nice, but she had to hand me off to 2nd person.
