You can sleep in. New message just posted on the camping reservation pages: "Due to the uncertainty surrounding COVID-19, Yosemite will not be releasing any camping reservations on May 15. Are you referring to the damage that was done to the restrooms in Upper and Lower Pines a year ago during the big snow year? If so, yes, they were all repaired last summer.by PineCone - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
I agree with eeek. Using the Recreation.Gov web site, four sites in Upper Pines are designated as "tents only". Viewing eeeks photos of these four sites (125, 137, 139, 199), they certainly don't appear trailer-friendly: eeeks photos of Upper Pines campsites Plus the fact that they simply don't allow it, I would not risk it myself.by PineCone - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. Mr. chick-on, I too was very saddened by the murdering of said Sequoia trees. I had enjoyed their beauty for many years, and while bicycling about the Valley I would always stop by to admire them and pay them a visit. I somewhat understand the NPS logic for removing them, but also support the position put forth by several here as to what exactly is the definition of 'natural' in the history of Yoby PineCone - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. Go to this past message thread: Parking pad sizes and you'll have to scroll down the page a ways, I posted a list of parking pad sizes for the 3 Pines campgrounds. The picnic table that comes with your campsite, you can pick that up and move it to pretty much anywhere in your site you wish, that's not a problem. On the boundaries of your site, that is often a gray area regarding where exactly your site ends, and the neighboring sites begin. I don't own that particular table, but I do have a somewhat-similar one from REI (a camp kitchen technically) I've been using in Lower and North Pines for almost 10 years now. The specific area where this unfortunate incident happened I know well, as I cut through there often every year on my way from the campgrounds to and from Curry Village. This area of tent cabins is often occupied by school children in the Summer and Fall taking part in the NatureBridge program, I have see them staying there, so I can understand the school district's position.by PineCone - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada.
