Quoteryanmj Heading to the valley with the family on the 18th for a few days, they have gotten some snow lately and are forecasting a bit more Sun/Mon. Wondering if anyone that frequents the valley this time of year wants to make a prediction on whether or not I will need to put chains on (will have them regardless) and where they will required from along the 140. QuoteCarlton Hi all, I want to embark on my first visit to yosemite, and do a multi-day backpacking trip. First of all sorry if these questions have already been asked, I don't have any national parks experience and it's all quite confusing. Water might be scarce on the north rim side. There will be at least pools along Yosemite Creek. Get current info or carry enough for two days. The MercedVolgelsang trip would have lakes all along the way. Which is more interesting? The south side is interesting and has water.by mrcondron - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra

Quotejhc7399 Just curious if anyone here has been to either of the glaciers in Yosemite. How long would it take, overnight hike? I will be there in early September and have been thinking it might be cool to say, when I am an old man (Pretty old now but...) that I have seen and stood on a glacier. Quotepennonthetrail Hi there, I'm trying to plan a big day hike into the Yosemite Valley to meet up with some family. I'd like to park at a trailhead off the 120 (will be entering from the Eastern entrance) and walk down for a big day hike. I agree. Worse yet is if we get the El Nino we are hoping for causing 10' of snow then I doubt there will be much of anything except snowshoeing or skiing at that time of year. The trail into Rancheria is at about 4K' + a bit and pretty far west with a southern exposure so it stays pretty clear. Sorry for you H. Here are three possibilities: He is where you dropped him but hidden from view. He has been found and placed on a rock in plain view so the owner can see him in a search. He has been found by a ranger and placed in lost and found. I doubt he has been discarded. Lost and found is the best bet but it could take several days.
