Did someone say Glen Aulin?!?! One of the few times I have relavent photos to share. I've only been there once, but really enjoyed the scenery. The wife and I set up camp and then ventured down to see Le Conte Falls. If you do have a short first day, you could always run down there and do a bit of exploring.by JasonS - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
Congrats! I love it when gear companies do stuff like that. I've received good service from Smith Optics and just last year Simms sent me a new pair of fishing waders when they deemed my old ones "unrepairable". I need a new backpack as well. There's all sorts of stuff flaking off the inside of my old REI pack and I'd like to get something a bit lighter and maybe a few more pockby JasonS - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
This kind of stuff is so depressing. Along with the morons who steal the petroglyphs, rhino horns, shark finning, etc..... I guess I'm a pessimist, but these types of things make me fear for the planet as we know it. As soon as there's money involved; kill, steal and ruin seams to be the order of the day. We need a new plague or something to get rid of half the people on the planet.by JasonS - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

Holy Half Dome Photosynth Bonanza!!! There is definitely a difference with a real camera. Cool grotto photosynth too. I really enjoy panning around and seeing the Snow Creek trail, Yosemite Falls trail, etc. And on a totally random note, even though it's not the season, I saw Santa Claus' shadow in one of them.......hat, nose, big bushy beard.by JasonS - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
Gorgeous! I even enjoyed reading through the old thread again, thanks for the update.by JasonS - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
Very cool. My wife is a trooper, but I do what I can to keep her pack light. The problem is, I take a bunch of the heavy stuff and then she just refills her pack with sketching and art supplies and she's right back where she started.by JasonS - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
Quotechick-on If you mean you looked a the two photosynth's of "Diving Board view" that are there now.. um.. those are from my iPhone. they are not that great. haven't gone thru all the reg. cam photos yet... (I end up spending too much time farting around with 3D) Yeah, the ones that are already up. If figured they were from your phone due to the small file size and how quicklyby JasonS - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
Quotechick-on Been wanting to get back up there and get some photosynths... So I had to go take a look........... very cool. 1/2 Dome is definitely "in your face"!by JasonS - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
Ha! I just saw the photo and was going to ask the same thing. Okay....... I'm going to guess using my relatively meager knowledge: I say we're looking North along Lyell canyon, maybe in the vicinity of Potter Point. Just a guess.by JasonS - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
